'Drive him to the airport' - Pep Guardiola Man City quit claim amid Arsenal and Liverpool bid

Pep Guardiola's future has been the source of much speculation since the end of the Premier League season.

The Spaniard has just one year left on his current City deal, and announced after City lifted the Premier League trophy that he was 'closer to leaving than staying'.

Guardiola has never broken a contract, but talks over an extension have yet to begin. He has signed three contract extensions during his eight years at the Etihad in a stay that has lasted far longer than anybody could have imagined. However, with just 12 months remaining on his current deal there is an expectation that next season is likely to be his last.

"The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying," Guardiola said. "It's eight years, will be nine. Right now, my feeling is I am staying next season."

Former City manager Stuart Pearce admits he wouldn't be surprised if this season is Guardiola's last at the Etihad Stadium. And he claims that City's rivals would drive him to the airport themselves, to give themselves a chance of ending dominance

He said: “I would be more surprised if Pep Guardiola stayed another five years than if he decided that the upcoming season would be his last.

“He's arguably the best manager the Premier League's ever seen and I for one, would be disappointed if he left because when I've been at City on the odd occasion, he's shown me a level of football that I've never seen before.

“He's been absolutely incredible, but I think his rivals will be absolutely delighted. They'll drive him to the airport to get him out of Manchester
