Dover Athletic re-sign former academy graduate Alfie Paxman from Folkestone Invicta and also bring in midfielder Jordan Higgs from Dulwich Hamlet

Dover have announced they have brought in two new players - including a former Academy graduate - as their plans for the new season start to take shape.

Whites this week have signed midfielder Jordan Higgs from Dulwich Hamlet and full-back Alfie Paxman from Folkestone.

It comes after centre-back Jake Goodman, supporters’ player-of-the-year last season as Dover finished bottom of the National League, became the first player to agree to stay at Crabble ahead of their 2022/23 campaign in National League South.

Paxman, 24, made one National League appearance for Dover during his time in the club's Academy, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 1-0 defeat against Forest Green - now preparing for life in League 1 - at Crabble in 2016 under Chris Kinnear.

Last season, Paxman won supporters’ player-of-the-year, players’ player-of-the-year and young player-of-the-year at Folkestone.

Meanwhile Higgs, 25, made 31 appearances in National League South for Dulwich Hamlet in the 2021/22 season after joining them from Bromley where he had made more than 150 appearances.

"Might not look it but, trust me, I'm buzzing to be on board," Higgs wrote on Twitter following the announcement.

"Can't wait for the start of the season now."
