Dover Athletic manager Jake Leberl looks forward to their home National League South fixtures against Tonbridge Angels and Chippenham Town
Boss Jake Leberl has warned his Dover players things aren’t about to get any easier for them.
Whites, 17th in National League South and 11 points clear of the relegation zone, will host 16th-placed Tonbridge in tonight’s derby at Crabble.
Dover are again in home action against third-bottom Chippenham Town this weekend.
But little can be taken for granted during what has been an unpredictable National League South season.
“On paper, you would think they present good chances for us to pick up points,” admitted Leberl, whose troops are still yet to secure their Step 2 status for next season.
“It’s not just us. Top sides are losing against bottom-of-the-league sides - and it’s been like that all season.
“We seem to almost do better against the teams up the top-end of the division than teams below us. Tonbridge are still fighting.
“They will still think they’ll need a couple of results to definitely stay up and Chippenham are absolutely fighting for their lives.
“So, the next two aren’t going to be any easier than if we were playing teams towards the top.”
When the teams met at Longmead in October - in Tonbridge manager Alan Dunne’s first league fixture in charge - Angels claimed a 2-1 victory despite defender Jalen Jones’ goal.
Leberl, whose outfit lost 2-1 at Hampton & Richmond Borough last weekend, said: “They have had massive changes in personnel.
“I don’t know how many players they have used - a heck of a lot, chopping and changing - but they seem to have found the formula. They’re picking up points.
“It was one of the only performances earlier on in the season where we felt we didn’t do ourselves justice. It was actually a little bit similar to the performance against Hampton. Too many weren’t at it and we let in some
