"Don't seem convinced about him" - Journalist now shares Arsenal doubts over £140k-p/w star

Arsenal are still not convinced about Nicolas Pepe, says journalist Dean Jones.

Pepe was on the periphery at the Emirates last season, and Jones expects the north London club to make a move for a new winger before the transfer window closes because of those doubts around the Ivorian.

Diario de Sevilla recently reported that Sevilla are in talks with Arsenal about Pepe’s availability this summer.

The 27-year-old could very well be on the market after being constantly overlooked by manager Mikel Arteta in the 2021/22 campaign.

In total, Pepe, who is said to be earning £140,000 a week at the Emirates, made just five starts in the Premier League.

Given how much money he is on, finding the former Lille man a new club may be difficult. But looking at how far he currently is from Arteta’s thinking, a transfer is probably in everyone’s best interest.

Jones thinks Arsenal are still unconvinced by Pepe and can see them targeting another winger after their failed move for Raphinha.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “They’ve still got Nicolas Pepe. They still don’t seem convinced about him, so I think that they will go in for a winger.”

After missing out on Raphinha, there was some talk about the Gunners being interested in their former player Serge Gnabry.

However, the German has since gone on to sign a new contract at Bayern Munich, ending any hope his ex-side had of bringing him back to north London. His team-mate Leroy Sane, though, could be one option for them.

In fact, according to Bild (via Mundo Deportivo), Arsenal are one club who are interested in signing the former Manchester City star this summer. It would not be a cheap deal, though, with the same outlet claiming Bayern want a €70m (£59.6m) fee.
