Doku's penalty reaction and Ederson injury hint - Man City scenes after Liverpool draw spoke volumes

John Stones said Manchester City players were 'deflated' in the dressing room at Anfield, but maybe they were just exhausted.

City and Liverpool served up 100 minutes of enthralling football of the highest quality to remain within a point of each other. Neither side can be accused of failing to turn up for their biggest game of the season, and while Liverpool may feel they deserved a late penalty, or had better chances to win the game, a draw was probably a fair result.

City controlled the first half, and Liverpool had all the momentum in the second. If this was the final installment of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp's rivalry, it was a good way to end. As the players and City party left Anfield, there was a mixture of emotions on show after such an intense afternoon.

As ever, when players walk past journalists on their way out of the stadium, they don't have to stop for a chat, so it's a credit to them when they do.

First to leave Anfield were the goalkeepers, with Ederson sporting a heavy limp as he made his way to the team coach. He declined to speak to reporters, but there was no obvious aides to help him walk, having been substituted with injury in the second half from the challenge that saw him rashly concede a penalty.

Pep Guardiola hinted that Ederson's prognosis was not good, and in another broadcast interview he said: "It doesn't look good." Ederson's mood suggested he hadn't had the best afternoon - although with Stefan Ortega likely to start next week's FA Cup game, he has three weeks to recover for City's game
