Diogo Dalot confirms he could have left Manchester United for AC Milan in transfer window
Diogo Dalot has been one of the surprise stars of Manchester United's renaissance in recent weeks. The defender, who joined the club in 2018, has made the right-back slot his own and in the absence of any new arrivals the shirt looks his to lose.
Last Sunday's win against Arsenal saw Dalot and his colleagues post a fourth consecutive win. And the link-up between him and new signing Antony already has exciting potential. But it could all have been different had Dalot opted to leave last summer. After a loan spell at AC Milan in the 2020-21 campaign, Dalot says there was a potential for the move to have been made permanent.
But he says in the end he decided to stay put and it looks a sage decision now.

Speaking to Italian media, he said of the transfer decision: "Milan are a great club and I loved the season with the Rossoneri. But it (transfer) wasn't just up to me. In the end I decided to stay at United and it was the right decision.
"If I'm a better defender I owe it to Milan. Italian football is different from the Premier League and I had to adapt in just one year and playing in Serie A has helped me a lot.
"Over the past two years here in Manchester, the minutes have increased and, consequently, so has self-esteem."
