Jadon Sancho might have unlocked Amad's next Manchester United move

It feels increasingly like Jadon Sancho will leave Manchester United in the January transfer window. The 23-year-old has been frozen out at Old Trafford after his rather public falling out with Erik Ten Hag, and there is no resolution in sight unless he apologises to the manager, when he feels he is still in the right.

Sancho was ordered to train alone and banished from first-team facilities at Carrington after he accused Ten Hag of lying about the reasons he was dropped for the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last month, and neither party is backing down.

The United manager believes it is up to Sancho to apologise before he has any chance of returning to the squad; the winger is adamant he is in the right.

OPINION: United could be ignoring their best midfield right now

OWNERSHIP: United takeover process has turned into a nightmare

The Manchester Evening News revealed last month that the forgotten forward is open to leaving United when the winter transfer window opens, though he remains under contract until at least 2026, and club chiefs won't want to take a heavy loss on the £73 million they invested in him.

It leaves United in a rather tricky situation. They don't want to undermine their manager, but they would also be reluctant to throw in the towel so soon on a player they fought so hard to sign.

Should he choose to do so, Ten Hag's case to cash in on Sancho could well rely on proving to club chiefs that he is still an expendable asset, a player they can replace or might even already have done.

Amad could hold the key to what happens next.

The Ivorian has not played or trained with the main group since suffering a knee injury in United's pre-season friendly with Arsenal, but he revealed this week he is close to a return.
