Dillon calls time on Dublin career

Dublin hurler Eamonn Dillon has called time on his inter-county playing career.

The Naomh Fionbarra player made his debut in a league game against Galway in 2012 and picked up a Leinster medal the following season as Dublin claimed their first provincial crown since 1961.

Dillon had suffered a number of injuries in recent seasons with a knee issue meaning that he never got the chance to play for current boss Micheál Donoghue.

"Thanks to everyone for the well wishes..it wasn't an easy decision but the right one in the end," 'Trollier’ said on Twitter.

Dillon’s last appearance, like his first, came against Dublin in their Leinster round-robin loss in May 2022.

He started at full-forward and grabbed a point in the 0-27 to 0-21 defeat with the side exiting the championship on score difference as a result.

"Thank you to the Dublin supporters over the years, we didn’t always get the days we wanted but we did have some good days along the way," he added.

"Lastly I’d like to wish Micheál and the team the best of luck for this year and the next couple of years!"
