Diego Carlos will solve biggest problem in Aston Villa dressing room
Steven Gerrard wants more "winners" in his Aston Villa squad, and the arrival of Diego Carlos will go some way in solving that issue.
Villa agreed a £25 million fee with Sevilla to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League, which was a reduced price to what Newcastle United were quoted back in January. He will add experience and leadership to the Villa squad, as the 29-year-old has played in Spain, France and Portugal, as well as the Champions League and Europa League with Sevilla.
Carlos won the Europa League title with the Spanish side in in 2020, while he also won an Olympic Gold medal with Brazil at the Tokyo games in 2021 alongside Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz. His arrival spells the start of a new recruitment strategy at Villa Park, as the club aims to bring in experience and proven winners.
