"Didn't really get on" - Journalist drops major Tottenham verdict on Conte and 111-cap star

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte did not get on well with Christian Eriksen at Inter Milan, claims Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

There has been talk about Spurs wanting to re-sign their former player this summer, while Conte has also refused to rule it out, but Brown has his doubts.

According to Sky Sports, Brentford have offered Eriksen a new long-term contract as they look to keep hold of the midfielder.

He joined the west London club back in the January transfer window and impressed there, scoring one goal and providing four assists in 11 appearances.

However, Eriksen is now out of contract, giving him the chance to join another side, such as Spurs.

In February, Conte told The Guardian and other outlets that Eriksen returning to Hotspur Way would be a “good opportunity for him, for me, for the club” and that “we’ll see what happens”.

Brown is not too convinced by Conte’s words, while he also thinks Eriksen himself would have doubts about moving to Tottenham this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star journalist said: “I honestly think when Conte was first asked about it, he was merely being polite when he answered that, you know, there would be a place for him and yes, he’d be interested.

“He didn’t really get on with him that well in Italy, and I think Eriksen probably remembers that and would have doubts about going back to Spurs.”

Unsurprisingly, Brentford and Tottenham are not the only Premier League clubs who have been mentioned as possible destinations for Eriksen this summer.
