Sadio Mane transfer latest: Bayern Munich expect new bid will tip Liverpool scales and seal deal
Bayern Munich are preparing a fresh bid for Sadio Mane which they expect will convince Liverpool to sell their star forward, according to a report.
The German champions are the frontrunners to sign the Senegal international, who wants a new challenge. Mane addressed talk of his future last week, with two interviews setting different tones.
In the first, he declared that he will do what “60 to 70 per cent” of Senegalese people want and leave Anfield. Later on though, he reiterated his “respect” for the Reds and vowed to keep quiet until he had a more concrete update.
And in the background, Bayern have made their move as they look to snap Mane up. Liverpool have rejected a first offer of a guaranteed £21million, potentially rising to £25million.
The Reds want around £42.5million for the 30-year-old, who keeps himself in top shape and does not expect to drop off as he goes deeper into his thirties.
According to Sport1, though, Bayern expect that Liverpool will give into their next bid.
The Bundesliga winners plan to offer a guaranteed £30million with a potential £4.2million in add-ons. The report claims that such an approach would ‘meet the expectations’ at Anfield.
Bayern chiefs are currently discussing this offer as they look to test Liverpool’s resolve once more.
In any case, Sport1 concludes that ‘all parties’ expect to finalise an agreement soon enough.
The German outlet also provides more detail as to how Bayern have persuaded Mane over a move to Germany.
Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic reportedly convinced Mane’s agent, Bjorn Bezemer, that his client can become the new main star at the club.
Indeed, such a convincing argument could not be matched by Paris Saint-Germain, who fancied their chances of signing him
