'Deserved!' — Manchester United fans send unanimous message after Jadon Sancho award

Jadon Sancho has been crowned Manchester United player of the month for the very first time following an impressive February.

Named on a three-man shortlist alongside Raphael Varane and fellow winger Anthony Elanga, the England international — who joined United from Borussia Dortmund last summer — won the award after attracting the most votes from United's supporters. However, it did prove to be a close run battle between himself and Elanga for the gong, with Sancho coming out on top with less than 600 votes between them.

United confirmed that is the closest gap there has been for the award between the winner and runner-up since Juan Mata beat fellow Spaniard Ander Herrera to the gong back in 2016. David de Gea had won each of the last three monthly awards, meaning a new winner was guaranteed.

Sancho, however, fully deserved the prize following an impressive February. Featuring in all seven of United's fixtures in three different competitions, he scored two goals and grabbed two assists.

He scored in the FA Cup defeat to Middlesbrough and Premier League draw with Southampton, whilst claiming a pair of assists in the 4-2 win over Leeds at Elland Road. His tally of four goal contributions last month has taken his tally for the season to six, highlighting just how successful February was for him.

Although it proved to be close between himself and Elanga, who also scored twice last month, United's supporters were delighted to have seen the summer recruit come out on top. Below, MEN Sport has taken a quick look at how some of them reacted on social media.
