Micah Richards backs Trent Alexander-Arnold to replicate Ryan Giggs' Manchester United success

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards believes Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold could replicate Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs' trophy-laden career by enjoying a hugely successful career of his own at Anfield.

The defender, who will be fighting it out with Kyle Walker to make the right wing-back spot his own for England at the World Cup later this year, has cemented himself as one of the best players of his generation. Since making his Liverpool debut in 2016, Alexander-Arnold has gone from strength to strength, becoming a key figure in Jurgen Klopp's winning machine.

A constant threat when bombing forward from right-back, the Liverpudlian has been compared with United icon David Beckham for his crossing ability. Also a threat from set-pieces, Alexander-Arnold, who is 23, has registered 16 assists this season to highlight his attacking threat.

Having risen through the Liverpool academy and made the right-back spot his own, seemingly, for years to come, he is destined to become a permanent fixture at Anfield for years to come, just like Giggs was at Old Trafford between 1990 and 2014. For Richards, he is likely to stay at Liverpool for the duration of his career and enjoy plenty of success.

"Trent Alexander-Arnold would be dreaming about emulating Ryan Giggs and having a career in which his championship medals could go into double figures," Richards told the Mail. "Trent, it seems, is going to stay at Anfield for life.
