Derry name strong side for league final date with Dublin

Derry have named a strong starting 15 for their Allianz League Division 1 final against Dublin at Croke Park on Sunday afternoon.

Mickey Harte's side topped the table after the group stage, with six wins from seven games - although their only defeat did come courtesy of tomorrow's opponents, who beat them 1-16 to 1-11 in Celtic Park at the start of the month.

Harte chose to rest some of his star men on that occasion, but it doesn't appear likely the former Tyrone boss will do so in the decider on Sunday.

The team, as always, is backboned by Slaughtneil and Glen players, with the former's Chrissy McKaigue anchoring the defence from full-back. Conor Glass, of All-Ireland champions Glen, and Slaughtneil's Brendan Rogers continue their imposing partnership in midfield.

Eamonn Fitzmaurice: Kerry happy enough with Dublin-Derry final

Ciaran McFaul lines out at centre-forward with Glen clubmate Ethan Doherty on one side of him and Bellaghy's Paul Cassidy on the other.

In the inside-forward line, their scorer in chief, Slaughtneil's Shane McGuigan, will take up his customary position on the edge of the Dublin square with Niall Loughlin of Greenlough and Desertmartin's Lachlan Murray in the corners.

The Oaf Leaf County's bench includes Emmett Bradley and Gareth McKinless among the matchday 26.

Dessie Farrell's Dublin have yet to release their starting 15 for the showpiece game of the football league season. Throw-in at Headquarters is 4pm. The Division 2 final between Armagh and Donegal will serve as the curtain-raiser, getting underway at 1.45pm.

DERRY (v Dublin): O Lynch; C McCluskey, C McKaigue, D Baker; C Doherty, E McEvoy, P McGrogan; C Glass, B Rogers; E Doherty, C McFaul, P Cassidy; N Loughlin, S McGuigan, L Murray.
