Derby County player ratings as Curtis Davies shows class in Stevenage defeat

Elliott List condemned Derby County to their first defeat of pre-season as Stevenage claimed a 1-0 victory at the Lamex Stadium.

The forward demonstrated quick feet to engineer half a yard of space to fire beyond Joe Wildsmith at his near post in the first half.

Derby, who included Conor Hourihane, Curtis Davies and James Collins in the starting XI, started brightly with Craig Forsyth heading wide of the post. But then Steve Evans' side proved difficult to break down and left the Rams frustrated on a sweltering evening.

Made an incredible save to deny Elliott List, but kicking was a bit erratic during the opening 45 minutes. Something to work on.

Neat and tidy enough and swung over a terrific cross which Jason Knight headed over. Was a good test for him.

The best out of the back four in terms of how well he defended. Cruised through the opening 45 minutes and played well.

Elliott List's footwork was just too quick for him for the goal, but defensively had a sound game at the back and made a big clearance in the second half.

Had a header wide in the opening minutes and stuck to his defensive duties well but didn't get to see much of him in an attacking sense.

Had one of those nights where not much seemed to come off in terms of his work with the ball, but will be a good learning experience for him.

Had a header over the bar in the first half, but Derby found it difficult in the first half to break through a well-organised Stevenage team.

Delivered an absolute peach of a cross in the first half but then there were a couple of passes that didn't find their target. Had a mixed night in sweltering conditions.
