Derby County old boys welcome Liam Rosenior's latest summer signing to Pride Park

Derby County's newest summer signing Korey Smith has taken to social media to express his excitement at arriving at the club as a free agent.

The former Bristol City and Norwich City midfielder puts pen to paper on a two-year contract at Pride Park after being released by Swansea City following the end of his contract in South Wales. Smith's signing was announced just hours before the Rams were due to take to the field for their second pre-season friendly of the summer at home to Hertha Berlin.

Whether Smith features against the German side remains to be seen, with no indication offered in the club's confirmation. If not, then Tuesday's trip to Stevenage or the visit of Leicester City in a week's time may be more realistic opportunities.

For now, Smith has taken to Instagram in the aftermath of signing for the Rams. "Proud and excited for the opportunity to represent this club," the post reads. "New adventure for me and my family … can’t wait to get started."

A host of current and former Rams who have crossed paths with the player in the past have welcomed Smith's move. Curtis Davies was the current member of Liam Rosenior 's squad to welcome Smith, replying to the post with the message "Let's go."

Ex-Norwich teammate Bradley Johnson also replied: "Love it, Kors." Along a similar theme, Andi Weimann, a Bristol City teammate of Smith's said: "Love to see it."

One-time Derby loanee Jamie Paterson, who is a good friend of Smith's from their time at Bristol City and Swansea, was also in his mate's replies. "My guy," was Paterson's comment, which also included five love eyes emojis and three charged battery emojis.
