Deontay Wilder brutally KO'd Dominic Breazeale to retain his title three years ago this week

Deontay Wilder brutally dispatched Dominic Breazeale in style to retain his WBC heavyweight title three years ago this week.

The Bronze Bomber defended his title for the ninth time in the main event of a boxing show at the Barclays Center in New York in 2019, just five months after his infamous draw with Tyson Fury.

But there was certainly nothing controversial about the manner of that victory.

The crowd erupted as the then-undefeated former world champion floored his mandatory challenger in just the third minute of the first round.

Wilder improved his record at the time to 41-0-1 with 40 career knockouts while Breazeale dropped to 20-2 overall.

Twitter user b0xingfan shared a video of the devastating moment Wilder delivered a huge one-punch knockout to defeat Breazeale.

Breazeale can be seen standing still for a split second as his mind took a moment to register what had just hit him before his body crashed to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

The video was captioned: “In 2019, Deontay Wilder defeated Dominic Breazeale by KO in round 1 of 12 to retain the WBC heavyweight title.”

Speaking after the fight, Wilder said: “Everything just came out of me tonight.

“I know it’s been a big build up. There’s been a lot of animosity and a lot of words that were said and it just came out of me tonight. That’s what makes boxing so great.

“I just told Breazeale I love him and of course I want to see him go home to his family. I know we say some things, but when you can fight a man and then you can hug him and kiss him, I wish the world was like that. We
