Tony Bellew gives emotional interview after Everton 3-2 Crystal Palace

British boxing legend Tony Bellew gave an emotional interview to Sky Sports on Thursday night after his beloved Everton sealed their Premier League safety.

Throughout the course of his career there’s always been a few things that have been true about Tony Bellew. He’s incredibly tough, he knows how to win when the lights are on bright, and he’s one of the biggest Everton fans on the planet.

The 39-year-old regularly walked out to Z Cars, wore the blue colours at every available opportunity and even got the chance to fight at Goodison Park.

On that night in May 2016, he had his crowning moment in the sport as he knocked Ilunga Makabu out to claim the vacant WBC cruiserweight title.

In terms of last night, though, it was all about Everton Football Club as the Toffees managed to secure all three points and ensure they wouldn’t have to fight for survival on the final day of the season.

They were 2-0 down against Crystal Palace before vaulting back into the game and eventually winning 3-2, leading to insane celebrations that included a pitch invasion at full time.

During an interview after the game, Bellew couldn’t hide his emotions.

“I thought I’d seen it all nearly 20 years ago. I was sitting in that Gwladys Street end for the Wimbledon game, and I never thought I could see something like that happen again. At half time, that’s a greater comeback than the Wimbledon one, it really is.”
