Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder: Bronze Bomber 'turned to MMA' to stop onslaught

There have been many funny and bizarre moments in the boxing ring.

For example, when Marcos Maidana humped fellow boxer Adrien Boner in their 2013 clash. One moment that tops it off, though, was during Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder‘s second bout.

The pair went head-to-head on February 22 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Nevada. Both boxers at the time were driven to prove themselves in the ring against a worthy opponent.

This determination came after their first fight, which ended as a draw.

Many commentators and fans believed that Fury had inflicted enough damage on Wilder to secure the win, but uncertainty remained as the Englishman was knocked down twice by Wilder.

It meant that winning the second bout was a top priority for the pair.

Fury and Wilder boxed ferociously in Nevada, but in the third round, boxing turned into MMA very quickly.

The Gypsy King forced Wilder against the ropes and threw many punches at the American. Like many strategically do, Wilder went to clutch Fury so that he could get a breather and get himself out of a tight position.

Funnily enough, it looked like to many that Wilder was performing a takedown, a moment that brought everyone’s attention.

Instead of grappling Fury by the upper waist, Wilder lost his balance and fell to the floor while holding onto his lower torso.

Fury managed to weave himself out of the way before supposedly being taken down in an MMA-like style.

The Englishman went on to win that bout via stoppage. The bookmakers had Wilder as the slight favourite to win the rematch, but after being knocked down twice, his team waved the flag in the seventh round.
