Delta leads the medals table with 24 gold, Edo, Oyo, Lagos, others trail
Host, Delta State, increased its gold medal haul to 24, yesterday, thereby widening the gap with its rival, Edo, and other states at the ongoing Eighth National Youth Games, in Asaba.
The host won three gold in swimming events, yesterday, with additional gold medals in cricket, golf, and rugby.
Team Anambra won the gold medal in the girl’s 100m final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, yesterday.
At the close of events on Saturday evening, Team Delta was cruising on the medals table with 18 gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals.
Edo State was second with eight gold, seven silver, and nine bronze medals, while Team Oyo placed third with five gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. Team Lagos was fourth on the medals table with five gold, three silver, and six bronze medals on the official medals table obtained by The Guardian, on Saturday night.
As of the time of filling this report yesterday, no new official medals table had been released by the organisers of the Games.
