"Definitely" - Journalist drops Hotspur Way claim involving Conte ahead of Everton clash

Antonio Conte is definitely working hard in training to make Tottenham a more consistent team, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

After making a pretty solid start to life under the Italian, the north London club, who play Everton later today, have been really inconsistent of late.

Patchy. Following his first league game in charge of Spurs, a 0-0 draw against Everton, Conte went on to guide his side to consecutive victories over Leeds United, Brentford and Norwich City. However, since then, things have been really up and down.

At the start of February, they lost back-to-back games versus Southampton and Wolves before springing a shock by beating Premier League champions Manchester City. But to epitomise their inconsistency, they then went on to lose to Burnley and Middlesbrough, with a win against Leeds sandwiched in between, after that brilliant triumph at the Etihad.

The disappointing result at Turf Moore specifically left Conte absolutely fuming, who questioned whether he was the man to take Tottenham forward.

“It’s not right. I’m too honest to close my eyes and continue this way because I have my salary. I may be able to find the right solution for the club,” the former Inter Milan boss told talkSPORT following that 1-0 defeat to Sean Dyche’s men.

“For sure, the club has to make an assessment, because when you lose four of the last five games, you have to make assessment and don’t close your eyes.”

O’Rourke is confident that Tottenham’s inconsistency is something Conte is trying to address at Hotspur Way but admits he is having his struggles.
