Dean Henderson reveals his biggest Manchester United frustration

Goalkeeper Dean Henderson has admitted that he is disappointed that he has not been able to create a strong connection with Manchester United's supporters.

The former Sheffield United loanee, who was left out of the England squad for this current international break, has experienced a really difficult campaign on a personal level, racking up just three appearances in all competitions. All three of his outings have come in cup competitions, meaning he has not played in the Premier League since the final day of last season, almost 12 months ago.

Henderson was set to rival David de Gea for the No.1 shirt this season but saw his hopes dashed before the first ball had even been kicked, contracting Covid-19 over the summer and taking several weeks to recover. De Gea has been outstanding all season and has meant that it has been practically impossible for the 25-year-old to wrestle the gloves off him.

It means that the shot-stopper has not yet experienced playing in front of supporters at Old Trafford in a Premier League match. He racked up 13 league appearances last term but all of them came behind closed doors because of the Covid-19 regulations that were in place.

And it is the buzz of playing in front of 75,000 fans at Old Trafford that Henderson believes he has missed out on. Nevertheless, he has vowed to continue working hard in an attempt to build a relationship with the supporters.

"I thrive off it," Henderson, addressing what he gets from playing in front of a big crowd at Old Trafford, told United's club website. "I love it.

"I love playing in front of the supporters. Wherever I've been, I've always built up good relationships
