Deal agreed: West Brom closing in on “tenacious” £29k-p/w target, it's a massive coup - opinion

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Okay Yokuslu.

According to a recent tweet from journalist Yagız Sabuncuoglu on Friday, the midfielder has agreed a three-year deal with the Baggies and is on his way to England for his medical checks.

The 28-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo at the start of the month following the expiry of his contract at the Spanish club.

Earlier this month, Baggies manager Steve Bruce played down the possibility of securing a deal for the Turkey international.

However, speaking after West Brom’s 3-0 win over Northampton Town, Bruce changed his tune on the matter and revealed that the club had a chance to sign the player.

In his 16 league appearances, Yokuslu provided one assist, won 33 tackles and made more interceptions (42) than any other player in the Baggies’ squad at the time.

This backs up why the midfielder, who was earning £29k-per-week last season, was dubbed “tenacious” by Kyle Bartley as well as being “good on the ball.”

The player also made 25 blocks, 40 clearances and 89 successful pressures, which shows why
