Okay Yokuslu update offered as West Brom wait on transfer offer

Steve Bruce admits he’s unsure of where Okay Yokuslu is with his fitness levels until the new West Bromwich Albion signing returns to the club. Turkey international Yokuslu signed a three-year contract with Albion earlier this week after a previous successful loan spell.

The 28-year-old won’t be in England, however, until his Visa application is processed; because of the ongoing Ukrainian crisis, the waiting list for a UK visa is extensive and, quite rightly, sportspeople aren’t given preferential treatment.

Yokuslu made a splash under Sam Allardyce despite Albion’s Premier League relegation last year, but he didn’t enjoy a happy return to Spain and parent club Celta Vigo - indeed in January he was loaned to Getafe, but his game time was limited there, too.

Having mutually agreed to terminate his Vigo contract this summer, Yokuslu was freed up to move on and Albion have moved for him - but it could be a little while until he’s involved, and a little while further on top of that before he’s at his match fitness peak.

Ryan Lowe has responded to Steve Bruce’s public call for Preston North End to cough up for West Bromwich Albion forward Callum Robinson by reflecting on his own initial comments. Lowe, who took over from Alex Neil at Deepdale last season, is hoping to build on the platform he’s laid.

As a part of those plans, he and PNE retain an interest in Robinson, who has spent two loan spells and one successful permanent stay at the Lancashire club previously. Lowe confirmed that interest publicly earlier in pre-season.
