David Prutton predicts further Barnsley misery as Tykes prepare for Luton Town clash

Luton Town could secure a temporary spot in the Championship play-offs tonight, should they beat Barnsley by three or more goals.

The Hatters have picked up 17 points from their last eight games and could be welcoming back Elijah Adebayo to the frontline tonight.

Nathan Jones’ side could displace West Brom in sixth place tonight, although, the outcome of tomorrow’s Championship fixtures means that it is likely that Luton’s spot in the top-six, should it happen, would be temporary.

The Tykes have lost their last five league games, stretching their winless run in the division to 12.

Barnsley have endured a difficult start to the campaign, and as a result, they sit at the bottom of the Championship pile, eight points from safety.

Issuing his score prediction via his Sky Sports column, David Prutton believes that the Hatters will run out as 3-0 winners tonight.

The verdict

Luton will be eager to claim a spot in the top-six but will not underestimate Barnsley, given the Tykes’ excellent record at Kenilworth Road.

The home side never seems to do well in recent fixtures between the pair, but the Hatters will be viewing this as a perfect opportunity to break the trend.

The Tykes are struggling for form and goals at the moment and they know that they need to start picking up points to avoid being left behind altogether in their push for survival.

It would be no surprise to see the Hatters emerge victorious, however, it is unlikely that things will be simple for the hosts.
