David de Gea drops major transfer hint in cryptic post after Man United release

Manchester United icon David de Gea has teased a possible return to professional football after more than a year away.

The shot-stopper has been without a club since being released by United last summer. Following his 12-year association at Old Trafford, his time at Old Trafford came to an end after their 2-1 defeat to Man City in the 2023 FA Cup final.

The two-time Premier League Golden Glove winner has kept supporters and followers in the loop with his progression after training during his off time, switching between Altrincham's Moss Rose Stadium and the Spanish football's headquarters. On Saturday, the 33-year-old posted a cryptic message on Twitter with the hourglass not done emoji.

It was claimed that the Spaniard turned down a lucrative move to Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League in November 2023 in a switch that would've seen him reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo after several high-profile names from the Premier League and Europe made the move to the Middle East.

It remains unclear where his next move will be and if it will be in England or abroad.
