David Beckham picks only one Man United player in all-time five-a-side team

Manchester United legend David Beckham spent over a decade at Old Trafford but only picked Roy Keane in his dream five-a-side team.

Beckham rose through the ranks as part of the famed Class of ‘92 and became a vital part of the United side that dominated the early years of the Premier League. The former England captain was pivotal in the club’s unprecedented treble-winning season and had clinched six league titles by the time he left for Real Madrid in 2003.

Beckham was one of many galacticos in Madrid, playing in a team full of world-class stars. Before hanging up his boots, the midfielder also enjoyed short stints with AC Milan and PSG. It meant that Beckham was spoilt for choice when tasked by Rio Ferdinand to name his small-sided dream team, with just one United great making the cut.

“Okay, I would have to say Roberto Carlos because he can play in defence and attack,” Beckham said on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast. “He used to play more attack than defence, to be fair. And then I would have to say [Paolo] Maldini.

“And then I would say Zizou [Zinedine Zidane]. He’s one of the, not just one of the greatest players that I've ever played with, one of the hardest trainers, and also just cool. He's just cool, you know, without trying. You play him a ball anywhere on the pitch, any height, any level, any speed, he'd bring it down like it was just one of those things that he does.
