Manchester United player ratings vs Leicester City with Casemiro one of three 8s - but one player a concern

Ruud van Nistelrooy left his mark on Manchester United after overseeing a rout of Leicester City in his first game as interim manager following the sacking of Erik ten Hag.

The former United striker is in charge until Ruben Amorim arrives at Old Trafford and he relished every minute of his Old Trafford experience as his team ran out 5-2 winners.

A thrilling first half produced six goals, with Casemiro giving United the lead and Alejandro Garnacho adding a second, before Bilal El Khannous got the visitors back in the game. United responded immediately, with Bruno Fernandes' deflected free-kick wrongfooting Danny Ward and Casemiro getting his second of the game.

There was still time for Conor Coady to pull another back and the Foxes started the second half brightly, only for Fernandes to score again and kill any hopes of a comeback.

Here are how the players rated.

Altay Bayindir

His first appearance against another Premier League team and looked unconvincing. Poor punch that led to Leicester City's first goal and distribution was shaky, but one excellent save. 5

Diogo Dalot

Needed something to go his way and got it when the offside flag stayed down and his stinging low cross was converted by Garnacho. Grew in confidence. 7

Matthijs de Ligt

Couple of good blocks and a generally solid performance, especially when Leicester turned up the pressure early in the second half. 7

Victor Lindelof

A first start of the season and defended well. Didn't have an awful lot to do but passing was good when United built up play on the left. 7

Lisandro Martinez
