Dave Cormack admits he was 'walking time bomb' as Aberdeen chairman grateful for avoiding 'massive heart attack'

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack has admitted he had a lucky escape and he was a walking time bomb until his recent heart operation.

The Dons chief is now getting back to full fitness after recent open-cardiac surgery. Cormack revealed he was fortunate and if it hadn’t been for his doctor he would have been facing a massive heart attack further down the line.

Cormack, speaking to RedTV, confirmed: “I was a walking time bomb. They told me I needed open heart surgery in the next week. It didn’t really dawn on me until three weeks after the surgery as to how fortunate I was and what it could have been. They found on the main artery, the widow maker they call it, it builds 50 percent of your blood. “They found two blockages, one at 95 percent and one at 90. There were two other arteries that had 88 percent and 50 percent blockages.

“They said if you had left this six, 12 or 18 months then you would probably have had a massive heart attack. I am really fortunate that I was curious about it and my doctor suggested more tests.”
