Date confirmed for Stoke City cup tie

The date has been confirmed for Stoke City's Carabao Cup first round tie at Morecambe.

Stoke will be heading to the Mazuma Stadium on Tuesday, August 9, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

It is the first competitive game between the two sides at first-team level. Stoke under-21s took on Morecambe in the Football League Trophy in 2018, winning 2-1 with goals from Ollie Shenton and Tyrese Campbell.

Stoke have enjoyed decent runs in the League Cup under Michael O'Neill, reaching the quarter-finals in 2020 and fourth round last season. There have been wins away at Premier League teams Aston Villa, Wolves and Watford.

Stoke are currently in their third week of pre-season training, based for a few days in Cork ahead of their first public friendly of the summer, against Cork City on Saturday.
