Darwin Nunez to Liverpool: Man Utd fan shares worrying highlights video
Liverpool are closing in on a move to sign striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica.
Multiple reports claim the deal is nearing completion, with the The Athletic’s David Ornstein tweeting on Thursday that personal terms between Liverpool and Nunez have been agreed.
The deal is expected to be worth around €100 million as Jurgen Klopp goes in search of attacking reinforcements.
Sadio Mane is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich while Mohamed Salah is in the midst of a contract saga.
So it makes sense for Liverpool to splash the cash on one of the brightest young talents in Europe.
Nunez scored 34 goals in 41 appearances for Benfica in 2021/22 and can play out wide and through the middle.
Klopp didn’t hide his admiration for Nunez after he scored in both legs of Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final tie against the Portuguese champions.
“Extremely good looking boy, huh? And a decent player as well,” the German said.
“I knew before, of course, but he played pretty much in front of me with his tough battles with Ibrahima Konate.”
