Darren Moore shares Josh Windass update as Sheffield Wednesday prepare for Burton test

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has admitted that Josh Windass has yet to return to training after picking up an issue with his hamstring during the club’s meeting with Morecambe earlier this month.

Windass was replaced in the 73rd minute of this aforementioned fixture by Saido Berahino who has since gone on to feature in the club’s recent clashes with Doncaster Rovers and Charlton Athletic.

After securing a 3-1 victory over Doncaster, the Owls backed up this display by sealing all three points in their showdown with the Addicks on Saturday.

George Byers opened the scoring for the Owls at Hillsborough as he headed home from Barry Bannan’s free-kick.

Callum Paterson then added a second for Wednesday as he slotted an effort past Charlton goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray.

Charlton were unable to deliver a response to these goals as the Owls climbed into the play-off places as a result of this fixture.

Wednesday will move above Sunderland in the League One standings if they beat Burton Albion tomorrow evening.

Ahead of this fixture, Moore has admitted that he does not know when Windass will be fit enough to make his return to action,

Speaking to Yorkshire Live about Windass, Moore said: “He is not back in training.

“He is still working hard.

“In terms of a medical route where he is, he is always advancing along but he is not back out there.

“I’m not sure when he is going to be back.

“I don’t want to put a timescale on him.

“If he does recover quicker, we will get him back quicker.

“He is doing extremely well at the moment.”
