Darren Moore fires 'dangerous' warning to his Sheffield Wednesday players for Gillingham test

Darren Moore has warned his Sheffield Wednesday players to be aware of the threat Gillingham will pose despite their current league position. Neil Harris' side currently sit just inside the relegation zone, level on points with 20th-place AFC Wimbledon and will be fired up to continue their quest to stay in the division.

Meanwhile, Wednesday are chasing success at the other end of the table and will be hoping to break into the play-off places by the end of the season. Moore's men are just a point off the top-six but have slightly dropped off the pace in recent weeks, having won just one of their last three.

Apart from dropping points against Lincoln City and Accrington Stanley, it has been a remarkable run from the Owls to even be in contention for promotion after a tough start to the campaign. They were languishing in the bottom-half before Christmas, but have since gone on a tremendous run to be in with a chance of an immediate return to the Championship.

However, Moore knows how tough of a test Gillingham will be given their form since Harris took over last month. The Gills have picked up more points than Sunderland and Wycombe Wanderers during the former Millwall boss' time in charge.

Moore told the club website: "It's a dangerous game. They are fighting for their lives at the bottom end of the table, it’s a different situation to us, but we’re both fighting for different things.

"We’ll take a large away support and it will add to the appetite for the game. We need to stay focused; we know it will be difficult but we will be prepared when we get down there.
