Danilo to Rangers transfer addressed by Arne Slot as Feyenoord boss DROPS striker before naming 'good signal'

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot admits he dropped Danilo to the bench for the pre-season clash with Hoffenheim due to Rangers transfer interest.

The Brazilian is understood to be keen on a move to the Scottish Premiership but has had to put hopes of a move on the back-burner during the Dutch champions pre-season campaign with the Rotterdam and Glasgow clubs wrestling over the final asking price. Michael Beale has openly admitted to being an admirer of the 24-year-old but Record Sport understand that the latest bid of around £5.2m with add-ons was booted out by Feyenoord.

The forward was surprisingly named on the bench during the clash with the German side after impressing so far in pre-season - but did climb off the bench in the 4-2 defeat to the Bundesliga outfit. Following the full-time whistle, Slot was asked to explain the decision to bench Danilo for the warm-up fixture.

He responded to RTV Rijnmond: "Because of all the uncertainty surrounding him and what that does to him." He then offered praise for the attacker after his second half introduction: "But he did send a good signal in the second half of the game."
