Dan Ballard, Luke McNally, Wout Weghorst and the latest Burnley transfer talk

Vincent Kompany expects Burnley to be busy in the transfer market this summer with a host of players linked with the Clarets.

Burnley will seek to strengthen in a number of areas as they rebuild following relegation from the Premier League last season. The Clarets have seen several players depart at the end of their contracts while Nick Pope has signed for Newcastle United in a £12million deal.

Kompany spoke of a hope that signings would be concluded in the coming 24-48 hours when he sat down with the media on Friday with Burnley working on a host of deals. As ever, the transfer landscape is constantly shifting and we pull together the latest weekend rumours on what's what at Turf Moor.

The Sun report that Burnley have pulled out of a move for Arsenal youngster Dan Ballard.

The Clarets were thought to be close to landing the centre back in a deal worth around £2million but the report now states that Kompany and Co are exploring other options and that Ballard is attracting interest from Millwall, Blackpool and Sunderland.

Burnley had two offers turned down for the Oxford defender earlier in the month but Football Insider is now claiming a deal has been struck with the U's for the 22-year-old. They claim a £1.6million fee will bring the centre back to Turf Moor.

The striker has made it clear he wants to leave Burnley following relegation and reports in Turkey suggest a loan move to Besiktas is now arranged.

The Netherlands international had an agreement in place that he could leave on loan should the Clarets drop into the Championship with the aim of keeping his place in the Dutch squad for the winter World Cup. An an option to buy clause could also be inserted into the deal.
