Dalbeattie Star's 14 game winning run ends with thrilling Lochar Thistle draw

Dalbeattie Star’s 14 game winning run came to an end with a thrilling 4-4 draw at Lochar Thistle on Saturday.

The Islecroft side trailed by two goals on two occasions, then got themselves in front only to concede a goal in stoppage time.

Boss Eddie Warwick said: “It’s hard to decide whether it’s a point gained or two dropped. Hopefully I’ll not see that type of defending again.

“These days do happen in football– you get a sucker punch right in the face.

“Credit to Lochar, they were absolutely brilliant in the first half hour, they hit us like a ton of bricks. If I was their manager I’d be thinking we were unlucky not to have four or five at half-time.

The goal frenzy started when Brian Mullen gave Lochar the lead, Robbie Hogg then making it 2-0.

Dale Milligan got one back for Star but Liam Nish was able to restore the home side’s two goal advantage.

However, Ross Hunter struck for Star to make it 3-2 at the break after a breathless first half. The fun continued after the interval as Hunter’s penalty drew the title challengers level before Declan Rogerson put them in front for the first time.

But Peter Mendy equalised for Lochar in stoppage time to ensure the points were shared. Warwick added: “We’ve made a good job of making the game difficult.

“I’ve seen the goals back
