Cyriel Dessers slammed by Rangers fans after striker ‘lost the plot’ with punters during Champions League horror show

Furious Cyriel Dessers lashed out at the Rangers fans as they vented their fury at the frontman from the Hampden stands - and it hasn't gone down well following their Champions League exit.

It was a nightmare night for the Light Blues as they crashed out at the first hurdle with Dynamo Kyiv sending Philippe Clement's 10-man side out in the third qualifying round during a controversy-packed night in Mount Florida. Jefte was given his marching orders five minutes into the second half after a second booking - before Oleksandr Pikhalyonok and Nazar Voloshyn netted in the last 10 minutes to end the Scottish Premiership side's pursuit of Europe's elite competition.

Before the late show from the visitors, Dessers was already in the firing line. The frontman failed to control a neat pass from Vaclav Cerny - with the ball bouncing off the Nigeria international and bringing the counter attack to an abrupt halt with 10 minutes left on the clock.

That sparked booing from the Rangers' support, with BBC Scotland's Rob McLean noting on commentary: "Dessers reacting to the jeers from the crowd as the ball was played up to him and it didn't stick. He's waving his arms around furiously towards the fans and saying, 'Give me your support'."

However, some fans had a different interpretation of what the fuming frontman said as he threw his arms up. One fan asked on X: "Was Dessers gesturing to the fans last night? Looked like he was from my seat. If he was, he is done."

The calls for an exit ramped up with another supporter adding: "Surely that’s Dessers last game." Another added: "Dessers directing his frustration at fans is totally unacceptable after he put in that performance last night." One simply rounded off: "He has got to go after
