Cyriel Dessers insists Rangers relationship with Danilo is just revving up as he has no complaints over Govan grumbles

Cyriel Dessers reckons he and Danilo are ready to reap the benefits of their new Rangers partnership as he insisted: 'This is only the beginning.'

The new Ibrox hitman knows the Brazilian from his time at former club Feyenoord. They only spent a week together in Rotterdam before Belgian-born Nigeria striker Dessers was on the move to Italy with Cremonese. But they’re back together again in Glasgow and Dessers has been encouraged by their first run out as a pairing in Wednesday night’s 2-1 Champions League win over Servette. The 28-year-old opened his account as he gave Gers the advantage ahead of next week’s trip to Geneva and he believes it won’t be long before Danilo is also plundering goals.

"That's only the beginning,” insisted Dessers. "We are going to grow in fitness and relationships and as a team and it looks very promising. I liked [playing with Danilo] a lot. Together with Sam Lammers and the other players coming off the bench, they are all really good players and it is easy to play together. We get a lot of freedom from the gaffer and we need to use it. This relationship needs to grow and I am sure it will grow and we can benefit from each other a lot. It was only one week we spent together at Feyenoord. Of course I know him from the Dutch league and he is a really nice guy, a good player as well and I think it can be really exciting if we can grow as a partnership and hopefully both benefit from it and both score goals."
