Cyclist, 60, seriously injured in crash with pedestrian in Alderley Edge

A cyclist suffered 'serious injuries' after crashing with a pedestrian on the main road through Alderley Edge. London Road was closed off as emergency services were called to the scene on Saturday afternoon.

Cheshire Police say the cyclist, a 60-year-old woman, remains in hospital and launched an appeal for anyone with video footage of the collision to get in touch. The incident took place outside the Tesco Express store at around 1.10pm.

A spokesman for the force said: "Officers attended the scene and found that there had been a collision between a pedal cyclist and a pedestrian. The cyclist a 60-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Salford Hospital.

"She remains in hospital at this time. The pedestrian did not sustain any serious injuries."

The road was shut off between Heyes Lane and Clifton Street before reopening around 3.15pm. Anyone who witnessed the collision - or has video footage - should call the Cheshire constabulary on 101 and quote IML 1667392.
