Cristiano Ronaldo storms off pitch as Al Nassr rival copies Lionel Messi celebration

Cristiano Ronaldo stormed off the pitch on Saturday as Al Nassr were thrashed 4-1 in the Saudi Super Cup final.

The Manchester United legend had put his current club ahead before they conceded four goals in 17 second-half minutes to Al Hilal. A brace from former Fulham striker Alexander Mitrovic alongside finishes from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Malcom condemned Ronaldo's team to defeat.

And when the full-time whistle was blown, Ronaldo chose not to stick around and receive a runners-up medal. The Portuguese cut a frustrated figure throughout the contest and he won't have liked the celebration from Al Hilal captain Salem Al-Dawsari when he lifted the trophy.

Salem chose to bob from side to side as he made his way in front of his teammates before hoisting the trophy aloft. It was a carbon copy of what Ronaldo's rival Lionel Messi did at the 2022 World Cup when he led Argentina to a penalty shootout victory over France in the final.

Saturday's result caps off a frustrating summer for Ronaldo. The 39-year-old played every game for Portugal at Euro 2024 but struggled badly having failed to find the net before seeing his nation knocked out by France on penalties in the quarter-finals.

Ronaldo left United under a cloud in 2022 after a controversial interview with Piers Morgan where he criticised United boss Erik ten Hag and the standards at Old Trafford. He joined Al-Nassr on 30 December that year where he has gone on to win the Arab Club Champions Cup.

However, despite scoring 66 goals in 72
