Cristiano Ronaldo sent Scotland warning as Che Adams refuses to bow for his hero

Che Adams reckons Cristiano Ronaldo is responsible for a helping a today's generation of kids to fall in love with football - then admitted Scotland will be out to break the Portugal legend's heart at Hampden.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid goalscoring great is still going strong for his nation at the age of 39. He netted his 901st career goal against Steve Clarke's side when the sides faced off in Lisbon last month. And he continued his phenomenal scoring streak at international level when he buried his 133rd strike for the Portuguese in Saturday's 3-1 win over Poland.

But Adams hopes it will be his side who have the last laugh at Hampden on Tuesday night as they look to end a nightmare run that has seen under-pressure Clarke's side win just once in their last 15 games. Asked for his thoughts on the five-time Balon d'Or winner, the Torino hitman said: "Amazing player, amazing career. I think he's made a lot of people fall in love with the game of football.

"He's a lot of idol to the kids growing up now. He's an amazing player, but tomorrow is going to be a bit different for us. We're going to have to stop him and put him out of his track. We're looking forward to coming up against him, stopping him and putting our stamp on the game."
