Cristian Romero rages at Ange as Tottenham star storms down the tunnel but boss in the right despite fury

His boss might have been correct – but that didn’t dull Cristian Romero's temper in Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham curtain raiser in the Premier League.

The Argentina star rose highest from a header to score the first goal of the Aussie's Spurs era from a James Maddision corner. But soon signs of concussion were displayed by the centre-back and Davinson Sanchez was quickly prepared to come into central defence.

Romero pleaded with his new boss to stay on the park but former Celtic manager Postecoglou was insistent that he should come off, giving him some words in his ear as his goalscorer went to the bench. But soon he had to go down the tunnel and that only served to anger him further, and he threw a shirt on the deck as he stormed out of sight. Bryan Mbeumo put Brentford on level terms shortly after, with this game coming in the aftermath of Harry Kane's exit to Bayern Munich.
