Cristian Eriksen transfer preference emerges after offers from Man Utd and Tottenham

Christian Eriksen is reportedly keen to stay in the Premier League next season, rather than move abroad.

Eriksen is currently away on holiday and is taking his time to weigh up contract offers from the three leading contenders for his signature: Brentford, Tottenham and Manchester United. The 30-year-old midfielder is in high demand following an impressive return to action for Brentford in the second half of the 2021/22 season.

Eriksen has made a stunning comeback to elite football after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark against Finland at Euro 2020 last summer. He joined the Bees on a short-term deal in January and helped Thomas Frank’s side win seven of the 11 games he started in the Premier League.

He can be signed on a free transfer from July 1, but is yet to make a call on his future because he is recuperating after being involved in Denmark’s four Nations League matches. There is understood to be interest and offers from clubs outside of England, but the Daily Mail reports his preference is to stay in the Premier League.

Eriksen is very relaxed about the situation, having been offered a deal to stay at Brentford, re-join Tottenham, where he played between 2013 and 2020, or work under Erik ten Hag at United. “There are many criteria and many different things inside such a decision,” he told reporters after Denmark's 2-0 win over Austria on Monday, as per Bold.dk .

“Sometimes it goes fast in football, other times a little slower. You are not in control of it yourself. I have to make the best decision and not rush anything through. My phone stays on, but I also know my agent well enough to know that he only calls if there's something exciting.”
