Creetown make it seven league wins in a row in spectacular style against St Cuthbert Wanderers

Creetown made it seven league wins in a row in spectacular style on Saturday.

The Castle Cary Park side ran out 7-0 winners in Kirkcudbright, with gaffer Martin McCaulay hailing it as the best display during his time at the club.

The former goalie, who took the reigns following the departure of Jamie Adams earlier in the season, said: It’s easily the best we’ve performed since I took over, I’m chuffed to bits.

“The first 45 minutes wasn’t just the best I’ve seen since I took over but you could easily argue it was the best 45 minutes I’ve seen since I’ve been here as a player, it was that good.

“Some of the goals we scored were unbelievable. The way we approached the game, tempo of the game, the way we passed the ball, even when we didn’t have possession in the first half – which to be fair wasn’t many times – the hunger and desire to get the ball back and play the way we played was unbelievable.

“We go in 5-0 up at half-time and, after praising them, I told them it would be near impossible to go out the second half and perform like that again, so don’t get get frustrated if it’s not happening.

“To give Saints credit, they came out and changed formation, went more direct and caused us more problems.”

Creetown were five goals to the good at the break with braces from Josh Rennie and Joe Mcmillan as well as a goal for Dean Fyfe. Second half goals from Tinovimba Kawanza and McCulloch completed a good day for Creetown.

It was their seventh league win on the spin and they are now just four points behind South of Scotland League leaders Nithsdale Wanderers, who have played a game more.
