Creetown gain Scottish Cup place after being granted full SFA membership

Creetown will be playing in the Scottish Cup next season.

The Castle Cary Park club have met the requirements for full SFA membership and their status was confirmed at the governing body’s AGM.

They will join Threave Rovers, Dalbeattie Star, St Cuthbert Wanderers and Abbey Vale in the draw for next season’s cup – the latter getting a place after winning the South of Scotland League.

On the park, Creetown have signed defender Callum Hanlin from Newton Stewart, with Robbie Adair, Matthew Robertson, Richard Jones, Mark Whorlow and Martin McCaulay all agreeing to stay on for another season.

Vale have made another signing with midfielder Braden Bruce coming in from Upper Annandale.

And new Saints boss Ian Clark is continuing his work with former Threave and Lochar Thistle player Ryan Nish agreeing to join.

Also coming in are Nico McLachlan and Threave Rovers AFC trio Aaron Campbell, Dale McCutcheon and BJ Larkin, with goalie Lee Graham coming in from Lochside.

And Russell Williamson has agreed to stay at Dalbeattie Star for another year.

Threave Rovers will begin their preparations for life in the third division of the West of Scotland League with a home friendly against Gretna 2008 on July 1.

They then host Clydebank a week later before heading to Newton Stewart on July 12.

Glenafton Athletic visit Meadow Park on July 15 before Threave’s final friendly – away at Scottish Cup giant killers Darvel – on July 22.
