Sam Lammers ready to be Rangers title fighter as striker adamant battle with Celtic is 'best you can get'

New Rangers star Sam Lammers had admitted he craves the title fight at Rangers to bring the best out in himself – claiming his move to Govan is the 'best you can get'.

Lammers on Thursday joined Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling through the Ibrox doors to become Michael Beale's fourth summer signing - an incredible tally given that we are only halfway through June. Five key players left at the end of the season on free transfers, including Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, and the Light Blues have already taken measured steps to recruit well.

Lammers was the next through the door in a £3.5million move from Italian outfit Atalanta, where he has admittedly struggled over the past three seasons, scoring just five league goals since the start of Rangers' invincibles season. However, in a team that will likely dominate possession against other teams, Beale's boys could accomodate well to Lammers' game - which the Dutchman likes, as he named Rangers 'the best you can get' as they look to upsurge Celtic.

He told Sky Sports: “I think I need this, to be honest. I had it last at PSV, we were fighting for the title. I had good experience one time to win it, but this pressure is different.

“You have to win every game. Of course, at every other team I have been at you try to win every game, but the pressure for the clubs lower than Rangers in the table are different. For a top athlete, this is the best you can get. You have to win every game and fight for the top places and that’s what we are going to do this year.”
