Creetown chief believes side can still become South of Scotland League champs

Creetown boss Jamie Adams reckons his side are still capable of lifting the Utility Hut South of Scotland League title.

The Castle Cary Park side ended the year four points behind leaders Dalbeattie Star, who have played a game more.

Adams said: “We had a steady enough start, we’ve won eight and drawn three in the league so you can’t really complain.

“Some of the performances haven’t been great, but when I played the biggest part of the season was always the last three or four months.

“If we can lift ourselves up five or 10 per cent then we’ll be a match for anybody. If we can’t do that we’ll probably have a steady enough season, but it might not be enough.”

One disappointment for Adams was his side’s Tweedie Cup exit at the hands of Upper Annandale.

He added: “I changed the team about a bit too much and I take responsibility for that, but the boys should have done a bit better.

“That won’t happen from now on, it’ll be my strongest team every week and the boys will need to work hard to get in my strongest 11.”

The Creetown squad was given a break over the festive period, with training back to normal this week ahead of Saturday’s home game against Mid Annandale.
