Covid Inquiry Wales Live: Chief Medical Officer Frank Atherton gives evidence
Wales' top adviser to ministers in Cardiff Bay on infectious diseases will give evidence to the Covid Inquiry today as it resumes its hearings on the Welsh response to the pandemic. Sir Frank Atherton, Wales' chief medical officer, was one of the most prominent figures during the pandemic and frequently led public briefings.
Also giving evidence to the hearing in the Mercure hotel in Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, will be one of the Welsh Government's most senior health advisers Rob Orford who frequently attended Sage meetings and briefed ministers. The former top Welsh civil servant, Dame Shan Morgan, will also give evidence.
Last week we heard that Welsh Government ministers used disappearing WhatsApp messages to communicate during the pandemic, and that warnings were ignored about the severity of the virus in February 2020. You can read last week's coverage here.
