Coventry City 'waiting' to complete latest summer transfer

Coventry City are reportedly close to securing their fourth summer signing in Crystal Palace left-back Tayo Adaramola.

The Sky Blues have been busy in the transfer market so far, with Mark Robins aiming to improve on last season's 12th-placed finish. Defenders Callum Doyle and Jonathan Panzo have joined on loan from Manchester City and Nottingham Forest respectively, while Kasey Palmer signed on a permanent basis following his release from Bristol City.

With a fortnight to go until Coventry kick-off their 2022/23 campaign away at Sunderland, further reinforcements could be set to arrive following the departures of Josh Pask, Jordan Shipley, Julien Da Costa and Jodi Jones since last season ended.

One player who could be added to Robins' squad is Crystal Palace defender Adaramola. According to journalist Alan Nixon, the Sky Blues are waiting on Adaramola to return from the Eagles' pre-season tour in south-east Asia.

Championship rivals Preston North End had also reportedly been keen on the Republic of Ireland under-21 international. However, the Sky Blues have put forward the best case to land the Eagles' starlet on a loan deal.

Born in Dublin, Adaramola joined Palace's academy from Dublin side St Mochta in 2015. He signed his first professional contract five years later and made his senior debut in an FA Cup victory over Hartlepool United in February, before starting in the next round against Stoke City.

Adaramola's signature would add competition for Jake Bidwell in Robins' defence this season. Josh Reid returned from his loan spell with Ross County this summer, but has only made one appearance for the club.
