Coventry City free agent set for European football next season after completing transfer

Coventry City free agent Josh Pask has rejected the opportunity to stay in English league football and completed a move to the Cymru Premier league.

The 24-year-old, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Newport County, has now joined The New Saints and says the lure of European football and linking up with his former West Ham United Academy coach Anthony Limbrick, who is now manager of the Welsh side, were key factors in his decision.

The club are in the first qualifying round of the Champions League next month when they will come up against Northern Irish side Linfield.

“I’m very happy to sign for The New Saints and work with the gaffer who did such a great job last season,” said Pask, who was released by the Sky Blues this summer.

“I’m also looking forward to playing in the European games and hopefully making the group stages in one of the three competitions.

“It’ll be great to work with Anthony, who I’m familiar with from my time at West Ham a few years ago. Hopefully I can improve my game and be an asset to the TNS team, and we can go on to replicate what we achieved last season and go one step further in Europe.”

Head coach Limbrick told the club’s website: “During my time at West Ham United, Josh was a standout performer in the club’s U18 and U23 teams, so I was very keen to bring him to Oswestry as soon as I heard he was available.

“With English Championship experience, and still just 24 years old, Josh has great potential to develop and improve as a player here at Park Hall.

“We managed to beat a number of Football League clubs to secure his services, which says a lot about the direction in which The New Saints want to progress and move forward.
